Internet Trade Groups Band Together to Fight Cuomo Sales Tax Proposal

Groups representing the nation's largest online retailers including Amazon are banding together to defeat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposal to force internet platforms to collect state sales tax on residents' purchases from third parties made using the retailers' websites.

Phil Bond, executive director of the Washington, D.C.-based WE R HERE Coalition, a group representing small online merchants, said Cuomo's proposal would impose an "absolutely unprecedented" burden on online marketers like Amazon, EBay and Etsy.
